Amazon affiliate links in your YouTube descriptions, opening the Amazon app

A viewer watches your review, taps the Amazon link in your description, and should land on the product, signed in and one tap from buying. With a plain Amazon link that doesn't always happen: depending on the phone, they can end up on Amazon's website, signed out, instead of in the Amazon app.

DeepLinkMagic links are built to send YouTube viewers to the Amazon app on both iPhone and Android.

What your viewer gets

Viewer's phoneWhat happens with a DeepLinkMagic link
iPhone (YouTube app, Safari or another browser)The Amazon app opens straight away, on your product, with your Associates tag.
Android (YouTube app)A small page opens with an Open in Amazon app button. One tap and the Amazon app opens. Android needs that tap before a web link can open another app.
ComputerThe Amazon product page opens in the browser.
No Amazon app installedThey continue to the Amazon website, with your tag still on the link.

We tested this from the YouTube app on iPhone and Android in October 2026. YouTube and the phone have the final say on how links open, and if YouTube opens a link in its own built-in browser, the same small page with Open in Amazon app appears.

Where to put your links on YouTube

  • Video descriptions: the main place. Put the link near the top so viewers don't need to tap More.
  • Pinned comment: repeat your main product link there for viewers who read comments first.
  • Channel links: the links on your channel page are a good home for a page listing your favourite products.
  • Shorts: links in Shorts descriptions and comments generally aren't clickable, so point viewers to your channel page or the description of a related long video.

YouTube sometimes shows its own notice before a viewer leaves the app. That's normal and doesn't affect your link.

How to set it up

  1. Copy the product link from Amazon.com (US). A full product URL, a SiteStripe link or an amzn.to link all work. Links from other Amazon countries and the Amazon app's a.co share links aren't supported yet.
  2. Paste it into DeepLinkMagic. Turn on Apply tag if the link doesn't already contain your Associates tag.
  3. Label it after the video, such as "Standing desk review – YouTube", so you can see which videos send clicks.
  4. Paste the new link into your description and pinned comment.
  5. Tap it yourself from the YouTube app on your phone after publishing.

Stay within the rules

  • Disclose that you earn from the links. Amazon's Associates program and the FTC both require it, for example "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" at the top of your description.
  • Make it clear the link goes to Amazon. Write "on Amazon" or "Amazon link" next to it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a different link for YouTube than for Instagram?

No. The same DeepLinkMagic link works everywhere and adapts to the app and phone it's opened in. Separate links per video just make your stats clearer.

Is this the same as YouTube Shopping?

No. YouTube Shopping is YouTube's own program. This is for Amazon Associates links in your descriptions and comments.

Will I still get my Amazon commission?

While your plan or free trial is active, every click carries your Associates tag. Whether a purchase earns commission is decided by Amazon under its program rules.

Can I see which videos send clicks?

Yes. Give each video its own labelled link, and your dashboard shows clicks per link and by source app, with link previews and known bots, such as Google's, left out.

Can I try it free?

Yes. New accounts start with 500 free clicks and no credit card.
