Why TikTok makes Amazon links harder
TikTok gives you fewer places for a link than most apps, and the one you get opens in TikTok's own browser.
- Captions and comments aren't clickable. A link typed there is just text. Viewers have to copy it by hand, and few will.
- The bio link is the main way out. TikTok only shows a clickable website link in the bio for some accounts, and its requirements change, so check what your account currently allows in TikTok's settings.
- The bio link opens in TikTok's browser. That browser doesn't share logins with Safari, Chrome or the Amazon app. Your viewer is asked to sign in to Amazon before they can buy.
So the path is already long: watch, go to your profile, tap the link. A sign-in screen at the end is where many viewers give up.
What your viewer sees
- Normal Amazon link: TikTok's browser opens Amazon, logged out. Sign in, or give up.
- DeepLinkMagic link: a small page opens with an Open in Amazon app button. One tap and the Amazon app opens, already signed in, with your product page and your Associates tag.
If the Amazon app isn't installed, or TikTok blocks the handoff, the same page offers Open in browser, still carrying your tag. TikTok and the phone have the final say on whether the app opens, so the fallback is always there.
How to set up your TikTok Amazon link
- Copy the product link from Amazon.com (US). A full product URL, a SiteStripe link or an amzn.to link all work. Links from other Amazon countries and the Amazon app's a.co share links aren't supported yet.
- Paste it into DeepLinkMagic. Turn on Apply tag if the link doesn't already contain your Associates tag.
- Label it after the video, such as "Desk lamp – TikTok Oct 12", so you can see which video drives clicks.
- Put the link in your TikTok bio, or on your link-in-bio page if you use one.
- Tap it yourself from TikTok on your own phone before the video goes up.
Tips for selling Amazon products from TikTok
- Say it in the video. "It's linked in my bio, on Amazon" tells viewers where to go and that the link leads to Amazon.
- One product, one link. Create a separate link for each product and video. Your dashboard then shows which videos actually send clicks.
- Swap the bio link with your latest video. If you only have one bio link, point it at the product from your newest video, or use a link-in-bio page listing several DeepLinkMagic links.
- Disclose that you earn from the link. Amazon's Associates program and the FTC both require it, for example "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases" in your bio or caption.
